The Book of Jubilees, also known as 'Little Genesis' or 'Kufale', is a pseudepigraphal text of the Old Testament that rewrites the history of Genesis and part of Exodus, with emphasis on the division of time into jubilees and weeks of years. It is canonical only in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and preserved entirely in Ge'ez. The book was originally written in Hebrew around the 2nd century BC and is cited by the Early Church Fathers.
Jubilees
Chapter 21
And in the sixth year of the seventh week of this jubilee, Abraham called Isaac his son and commanded him, saying: "I have grown old and do not know the day of my death, and I am full of my days.
And behold, I am one hundred and seventy-five years old, and all the days of my life I have remembered the Lord, and sought with all my heart to do His will, and to walk uprightly in all His ways.
My soul hated idols, and I despised those who served them, and I gave my heart and spirit to observe and do the will of Him who created me.
For He is the living God, and He is holy and faithful, and He is righteous above all, and there is no respect of persons with Him nor does He accept gifts; because God is righteous and executes judgment upon all who transgress His commandments and despise His covenant.
And you, my son, observe His commandments and His ordinances and His judgments, and do not follow the abominations and graven images nor molten images.
And do not eat any blood of animals or cattle, or of any bird that flies in the sky.
And if you kill a victim as an acceptable peace offering, kill it, and pour its blood upon the altar, and all the fat of the offering upon the altar with fine flour and the meat offering mixed with oil, with your drink offerings offer them all together on the altar of burnt offering; this is a sweet aroma before the Lord.
And you shall offer the fat of the sacrifice of the thank offerings on the fire that is on the altar, and the fat that is in the belly, and all the fat of the inward parts and the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them and on the loins, and the liver you must remove, along with the kidneys.
And offer all these for a sweet acceptable aroma before the Lord, with their meat offerings and with their drink offerings, for a sweet aroma, the bread of the offering to the Lord.
And eat the flesh on that day and on the second day, and do not let the sun of the second day set upon it until it is eaten, and do not leave anything over for the third day; because it is not acceptable, and do not allow it to be eaten anymore, and everyone who eats of it will bring sin upon himself, for thus I found written in the books of my ancestors, and in the words of Enoch, and in the words of Noah.
And upon all your oblations sprinkle salt, and do not let the salt of the covenant be lacking in all your oblations before the Lord.
And as for the wood of the sacrifice, take care not to bring wood to the altar that is not of these: Cypress, beech, almond, fir, pine, cedar, savin, fig, olive, myrrh, laurel, aspalathus.
And of these kinds of wood lay upon the altar of sacrifice, as has already been tested as to their appearance, and do not lay any broken or dark wood, but hard and clean, without flaw, sound and new; and do not lay old wood, because there is not as much aroma in it as before.
Besides these kinds of wood there is no other which you should put, because the fragrance is dispersed, and the aroma of its fragrance rises to heaven.
Observe this commandment and do it, my son, so that you may be upright in all your works.
And at all times keep your body clean, and wash yourself with water before you approach to offer upon the altar, and wash your hands and your feet before you draw near to the altar; and when you have made the sacrifice, wash again your hands and your feet.
And do not let any blood appear on you or on your garment. Guard yourself, my son, against blood, guard yourself very much; cover it with dust.
And do not eat any blood because this is life; do not eat any blood.
And do not accept gifts for the blood of man, so that it be shed with impunity, without judgment. Because it is the shed blood that makes the earth sin, and the earth cannot be cleansed from human blood except by the blood of him who shed it.
And do not accept gift or favor for the blood of man: blood for blood, so that you may be accepted before the Lord, the Most High God; because He is the defense of the good: and so that you may be preserved from all evil, and that He may save you from all kinds of death.
I see, my son, that all the works of the sons of men are sin and wickedness, and all their works are impurity, abomination and pollution, and there is no righteousness in them.
Take care that you do not walk in their ways, nor tread in their paths, and sin a sin of death before the Most High God. If not, He will deliver you again into the hands of your transgressions, and exterminate you from the earth, and also your descendants from under heaven, and your name and your descendants will perish from all the earth.
Turn back from all their works and all their impurity, and observe the order of the Most High God, and do His will and be upright in everything.
And He will bless you in all your works, and from you will grow a plant of righteousness throughout all the earth, throughout all the generations of the earth, and my name and your name shall not be forgotten from under heaven forever.
Go, my son, in peace. May the Most High God, my God and your God, strengthen you to do His will, and may He bless all your descendants and the rest of your descendants forever, with all righteous blessing, that you may be a blessing in all the earth."
And he departed from him joyful.
