The Book of Jubilees, also known as 'Little Genesis' or 'Kufale', is a pseudepigraphal text of the Old Testament that rewrites the history of Genesis and part of Exodus, with emphasis on the division of time into jubilees and weeks of years. It is canonical only in the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church and preserved entirely in Ge'ez. Jubilees

Chapter 7

1

And in the seventh week, in the first year of this jubilee, Noah planted vines on the mountain where the ark had rested, called Lubar, one of the mountains of Ararat, and they bore fruit in the fourth year, and he kept their fruit, and accumulated them in this year in the seventh month.

2

And he made wine from them and put it in vessels, and kept them until the fifth year, until the first day, on the new moon of the first month.

3

And he celebrated with joy the day of this feast, and he made a burnt offering to the Lord, a bullock and a ram, and seven sheep, each one year old, and a young goat, with which he made atonement for himself and his sons.

4

And he prepared the young goat beforehand, and put part of its blood on the flesh that was on the altar which he had built, and all the fat he poured on the altar where he prepared the burnt offering, and the bull, the ram and the sheep, and he poured all their flesh upon the altar.

5

And he placed all his offerings mixed with oil upon it, and afterwards he sprinkled wine on the fire which he had previously prepared on the altar, and he put incense on the altar and caused a sweet aroma to rise acceptable before the Lord his God.

6

He celebrated and drank of his wine, he and his sons with joy.

7

And evening came, and he went into his tent, and being drunk he lay down and slept.

8

And he was uncovered in his tent while he slept. And Ham saw his father Noah naked, and went out and told his two brothers.

9

And Shem took his cloak and stood up, he and Japheth, and put the garment on their shoulders and went backward and covered the shame of their father, and their faces were turned backward.

10

And Noah awoke from his sleep and learned everything that his youngest son had done to him, and he cursed his son saying: "Cursed be Canaan, a slave servant shall become to his brothers."

11

And he blessed Shem and said: "Blessed be the Lord God of Shem, and Canaan shall be his servant.

12

God shall enlarge Japheth, and God shall dwell in the dwellings of Shem, and Canaan shall be his servant."

13

And Ham knew that his father had cursed his youngest son and was displeased because he had cursed his son, and he separated from his father, he and his sons with him, Cush and Mizraim and Put and Canaan.

14

And he built for himself a city and called it by the name of his wife Neelatamauc.

15

And Japheth saw this, and became envious of his brother, and he also built for himself a city, and he called it by the name of his wife Adataneses.

16

And Shem dwelt with his father Noah, and he built a city near his father in the mountains, and he also called it by the name of his wife Sedeqetelebab.

17

And behold, these three cities are near Mount Lubar; Sedeqetelebab faces this mountain to the east; Neeltamauc to the south; Adataneses to the west.

18

And these are the sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, and Arpachshad who was born two years after the flood, and Lud and Aram.

19

The sons of Japheth are: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras. These are the sons of Noah.

20

And in the twenty-eighth jubilee, Noah began to teach his sons' sons the ordinances and the commandments, and all the judgments that he knew, and he exhorted his sons to observe righteousness, and to cover the shame of their flesh, and to bless their Creator, and honor father and mother, and love their neighbor, and guard their lives from fornication and impurity and all iniquity.

21

For because of these three things the flood came upon the earth, namely, because of fornication through which the Watchers against the law and their ordinances prostituted themselves with the daughters of men and took for themselves wives.

22

And they fathered sons, the Nephilim, and they were unequal, and they devoured one another, and the Giants killed the Nephilim, and the Nephilim killed the Elyo, and the Elyo mankind, and one man another.

23

And each one turned to practice injustice and to shed much blood, and the earth was filled with injustice.

24

And after this they sinned against the wild animals and the birds and against everything that walks on the earth: and much blood was shed on the earth, and every imagination and desire of men was vanity and wickedness continually.

25

And the Lord destroyed everything from the face of the earth because of the wickedness of their deeds, and because of the blood which they shed upon the earth He destroyed everything.

26

"And we were spared, I and you, my sons, and everything that entered with us into the ark, and behold, I see your works before me and that you have not walked in righteousness: because in the way of destruction you have begun to walk, and you are separating from one another, walking envious of one another, and you are not in harmony, my sons, each one with his brother.

27

For I see, and behold, the demons have begun to seduce you and against your children, and now I fear concerning you, that after my death you will shed the blood of men upon the earth, and that you also will be destroyed from the face of the earth.

28

For everyone who sheds human blood, and everyone who eats the blood of any flesh, shall be destroyed from the face of the earth.

29

And no man who has eaten blood, or who has shed human blood upon the earth, shall be spared; nor shall any living descendant be spared to him under heaven; For into Hell they shall go, and into the place of condemnation they shall descend.

30

There shall be no blood upon you of all the blood that shall be all the days in which you kill any wild or domestic animal or anything that flies upon the earth, and do this good work for your own lives by covering what has been shed upon the earth.

31

And you shall not be like him who eats with blood, but guard yourselves so that no one eats blood before you. Cover the blood! For of this I was commanded to testify to you and your children, together with all flesh.

32

And do not give life to be eaten with the flesh, so that your own blood not be required from the hand of any flesh that has shed it upon the earth.

33

For the earth will not be cleansed from the blood that has been shed upon it except by the blood of him who shed it; shall the earth be purified throughout all generations.

34

And now, my children, pay attention: Practice judgment and justice so that you may be planted in justice upon the face of all the earth, and your glory be raised before my God, who saved me from the waters of the flood.

35

And behold, you shall go and build cities, and plant in them all the plants that exist on the earth, and moreover all the fruit trees.

36

For three years the fruit of everything that is eaten shall not be gathered, and in the fourth year its fruits shall be harvested, and the first fruits shall be offered upon the altar of the Lord God Most High, who created the heavens and the earth and everything that exists. Upon the man with the best of the firstfruits of wines, of oil and of first fruits in offering to God on the altar, this is accepted, and what remains let the servants of the house of the Lord eat before the altar. God permits this.

37

And in the fifth year let it be released so that released in righteousness and uprightness, and you shall become righteous, and everything you plant shall prosper.

38

For thus Enoch, the father of your father, commanded Methuselah, his son, and Methuselah commanded his son Lamech, and Lamech commanded me all these things which his fathers commanded him.

39

And I also give you a command, my sons, as Enoch commanded his son in the first jubilee: while still living, the seventh of his generation, he commanded and testified to his sons and to his grandsons until the day of his death."
